Woo-Jun Shim (29), who played as a shortstop for KT Wiz until the 2024 season, will be wearing the Hanwha Eagles uniform.
On the 7th, the Hanwha Eagles announced that they had signed free agent infielder Shim Woo-jun through a 4-year contract worth up to 5 billion won (signing bonus + guaranteed annual salary of 4.2 billion won, option of 800 million won).
This is the third 2025 FA market contract following Woo Kyu-min (KT) and Choi Jeong (SSG), and the first successful ‘transfer’.
The Hanwha Eagles were considered a ‘big shot’ even before the FA market opened, and attention was focused on who their first recruit would be. The first target was none other than Woo-Jun Shim, who was recruited for the purpose of strengthening the infield.

Shim Woo-jun joined KT in 2014 (2nd round draft, 14th overall), debuted in the first team the following year, and appeared in over 100 games as a shortstop in every season except 2023 and the first half of 2024.
Shim Woo-jun’s career record is 1,072 games, batting average 0.254, 275 RBIs, 156 stolen bases. He is a starting infielder with decent defensive skills and a high stolen base percentage (0.788) thanks to his speed.
Hanwha announced, “With the addition of Woo-Jun Shim, we have secured a stable shortstop with the desired operational execution ability in the field (dugout),” and Hanwha General Manager Hyuk Son evaluated, “Woo-Jun Shim is a player who will help strengthen the center line with his consistency and stable defensive ability that will allow him to play in over 100 games per season.”
Shim Woo-jun said, “I would like to thank the Hanwha Eagles for their positive evaluation. As I was recruited through free agency, I will do my best to contribute to the team with a greater sense of responsibility.” He continued, “I would like to thank the KT team officials, players, and coach Lee Kang-cheol. I will never forget the hearts of KT fans,” and bid farewell to his former team, KT Wiz.
