A no-hitter occurred in the game between the San Diego Padres and Washington Nationals held at Nationals Park on the 25th (local time).
The no-hitter was thrown by San Diego Padres right-handed pitcher Dylan Cease, who became the second player in franchise history to throw a no-hitter.
The first no-hitter in franchise history was recorded by former Texas Rangers teammate Musgrove on April 9, 2021.
Dylan Sease, who was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the 6th round (169th overall) in 2014, was traded to the Chicago White Sox in 2019, where he had a record of 43 wins, 35 losses, and an ERA of 3.83. This year, he was traded again to the San Diego Padres.
As of the 2024 season, Dylan Sease has established himself as a solid starting pitcher for the team, recording 10 wins, 8 losses, and a 3.50 ERA.
In this day’s game, Korean major leaguer Kim Ha-seong’s performance also stood out.
Kim Ha-seong, who started as the 6th batter and shortstop, recorded 2 hits and 3 RBIs in 4 at-bats, showing his focus despite the game being suspended due to bad weather, and increased his RBIs to 46.
The highlight was in the top of the first inning, with two outs and the bases loaded on a hit and two walks, Kim Ha-seong hit a ball to left field for a three-RBI single, becoming the game-winning hitter.
He then had to retire after recording two strikeouts in the 4th and 7th innings, but he hit a double again in the top of the 9th inning off a pitch from Washington Nationals’ Jose Pere.
The San Diego Padres, who swept the series against the Washington Nationals thanks to Dylan Cease’s strong pitching and Kim Ha-seong’s performance, will face the Baltimore Orioles at Oriole Park on Saturday, July 27th at 8:05 AM (Korean time).
